Now a Days You Spend a Large percentage of your time tapping on your laptop keys . A research evidences that an individual spends time on his laptop even more than his Girlfriend . So why not to treat  your Laptop with that Same affection and care so that its battery lasts for years .
Laptop batteries are generally lithium ion based batteries which loses its original abilities of charging itself sufficiently even after some months of harsh usage . Sustainable Usage Can Increase Your Battery life or At least maintain the present abilities to some extent. So here are 12 tips to make your battery life last longer.


1.Avoid Overcharging

The first and the basic way to keep your battery healthy is to avoid overcharging of your laptop battery. Plugging in your laptop in AC for a longer period can reduce its charge storing capacity and even completely destroys it. It may even cause harm to your laptop's other hardware resources.
So keep a look and be attentive while charging your laptop to avoid its overcharging.

2.Never let Your laptop's Battery Completely Discharge

 Complete Discharging  will reduce the life of your battery. Most batteries will last 2 years or more if properly taken care of, if you get less than a year take a look at your use practices! . (Discharging completely is only for older batteries with memory effects). Extracting every drop of power from the battery may not show its effect frequently but its cumulative effect will surely destroy yours laptops charge storage.

3.Do not Charge Your Laptop in Short Temporal Cycles

Never charge your laptop for short spans with breaks between it , despite of it prefer giving it a go and charge it to about 97 to 98 percent .short interval charging can chemically effect your battery and will have a direct result on power storage area .

4.Charge When Battery Gets too low

Plug your laptop charger , only when the battery goes too low . Charging laptop at inadequate times may result the same when it is charged for short spans . So avoiding it may prove a blessing for your laptop and its battery.



5.Keep Your Fans Clean

Regularly clean your laptop fans wither by a brush or air pumps . Improper Functioning of your laptop fans can result in its overheating which leads to have a direct impact on your battery life . Clogged air vents can not only make your laptop inefficient, but it can cause permanent damage to your computer.

6.Keep It in a cool place

Placing and working on your laptop in place where temperature is about 28 to 33 degree Celsius leaves a good impact on your battery life as heat breaks down the battery and its overall life.

7.Remove all Removable devices if not in use

USB devices (including your mouse), iPods, wireless and more drain down your laptop battery, while most of the effects from this is temporary (lessens your charge time), it is always good practice to unplug or shut them down when not in use. While it seems like a nice idea for a lazy guy to leave a CD or DVD in your optical drive, but  it is not, your drive will always want to run that disk, the preferred method  is to remove the disk when you are not using it. Not only  this ,it also cuts down on things "running" on your computer but it will also save your optical drive.

8.Update your Power Drivers

Laptop Companies regulary provides system updates including updates for your battery . Do not consider them useless or irritating computer popups .They are meant to help your system being reliable. So install them as they can also improve your battery life.

9.Give a rest to it

Sometimes Removing battery form your laptop and running it on AC can prove beneficial for  your battery as it gets time to restore itself and its inside chemical functioning . Do this task weekly once for a better battery life . Never remove the battery while the computer is on, or even in standby or sleep mode; doing so will crash your system and possibly damage your hardware. Even inserting a battery into a running laptop can damage the system.

10.Shut down your laptop

 If you are not going to use your laptop for more than 3hours, shut it down. Not only does this save power, but it will save your laptop too! It clears old RAM items from your daily tasks, it helps decrease the wear and tear on your laptop and battery overall! So turn it off!

11. Addition of more RAM (Memory)

 Memory is an easy thing to upgrade. Most computers have at least 4GB of RAM (Memory). Memory helps you open and close things faster, it is a temporarily place to store "information". 12.Prefer Hibernate not standby
